How does covering travel expenses work?

Travel throughout the Twin Cities is included in your collection.

For celebrations elsewhere in Minnesota, a flat $650 per travel day is added to your collection. This helps cover the additional time, mileage, transportation, and overnight accommodations that come with traveling farther from home.

Planning something beyond Minnesota? I haven’t quite figured out how to pay for flights and faraway adventures in fairy dust yet. Travel outside of Minnesota is quoted individually based on your location and celebration.

No surprises tucked away in the ferns. You’ll always receive your complete travel quote before booking.

Do you offer discounts or payment plans?

While I don’t offer discounts, I do offer flexible payment options because I believe everyone deserves the chance to preserve life’s most sacred transformations.

For sessions, a 30% non-refundable retainer reserves your place in the ferns, with the remaining balance due 14 days before your session.

For weddings and elopements, a 30% non-refundable retainer reserves your place in the ferns, with the remaining balance due 30 days before your celebration.

Do you deliver RAW or unedited images?

I don’t deliver RAW or unedited images. Editing is where your photographs complete their final transformation.

Do we get all of the photos you take?

Every collection includes a guaranteed minimum of fully edited images: 500 for weddings, 250 for micro weddings, 150 for elopements, and 40 for portraits and sessions.

These are minimums, not limits. If I capture additional photographs that help tell your story, I’ll happily include them at no extra charge.

My hope is that your gallery feels less like hundreds of individual photographs and more like opening the pages of a story you’ll return to again and again.

What should I wear?

Once you’ve reserved your place in the ferns, we’ll begin dreaming up your photo session together.

I’ll create a custom mood board inspired by your vision and send over my Fern Vera Clothing Guide to help you choose outfits that complement your location.

Deciding between a few outfits? Send them my way. I’d love to help you choose what feels most at home in your story.

Can you Photoshop me?

My editing is meant to preserve the feeling of the moment, not change the people within it.

I’ll happily remove temporary things like blemishes, bruises, scratches, or cuts, but I don’t alter body shape, facial features, or permanent parts of who you are.

If there’s something you’re feeling self-conscious about, please tell me. We’ll use beautiful light, gentle guidance, thoughtful wardrobe choices, and natural movement to help you feel like your most confident self.

What happens if you can’t make it to our wedding or session?

If I know in advance that I won’t be able to photograph your wedding, I’ll help you find trusted wedding photographers whose work aligns with mine so you have time to find someone you feel comfortable with.

In the case of a true last minute emergency, I’ll do everything I reasonably can to help find a trusted photographer who can step in for your day. Regardless, any payments you’ve made to Fern Vera Photography will be refunded in full.

For portraits and sessions, we’ll first try to reschedule. If another date isn’t possible, I’ll gladly refund your payment.

What if we need to cancel or reschedule?

If something unexpected comes up, I’ll always do my best to find another day for us to wander together. A small rescheduling fee may apply depending on the circumstances. If you cancel your session altogether, your non-refundable retainer will be retained.

Minnesota weather loves to keep us on our toes. My outdoor photography is deeply inspired by natural light and golden hour, so if the weather doesn’t fit the vision we’ve created together, we’ll reschedule for another day.

Rain, fog, and snow can create beautiful photographs too, but they tell a different kind of story. We’ll always make that decision together based on the vision for your session.

Do you have a studio? Is studio rental included?

I don’t have a photography studio of my own, but I love helping my clients find the perfect space for their session. There are so many beautiful photography studios throughout Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the Twin Cities that we can choose from together.

Studio rental fees aren’t included in my session pricing and are paid directly to the studio. I require a minimum two-hour studio rental so we have plenty of time to settle in, create, and let the magic unfold without ever feeling rushed.

Do you help in the planning process?

Absolutely! If you’re just beginning your journey, I recommend wandering over to my Experience page first to learn what it’s like to step into the ferns together.

For weddings, I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner or day-of coordinator so you can be fully present while someone else tends to the timeline and little details.

If you’re looking for a Minneapolis or Minnesota wedding planner, Sweet Daisy Events and Belle Haven Events are two wonderful teams I’d happily wander alongside any day.

How many weddings do you take per year?

The ferns only have room for a handful of weddings and elopements each year.

By keeping my calendar intentionally small, I can wander alongside each couple from their first inquiry to the moment their gallery flutters home.

It gives me the space to dream, create, and pour my whole heart into every story I have the honor of preserving.

How does the wedding process work?

Once your inquiry flutters into my mailbox, we’ll schedule a consultation call to get to know each other and talk through your wedding. I’ll take the notes, so there’s no lengthy questionnaire waiting for you at the beginning.

After our call, I’ll gather everything into your wedding notes and send over your personalized proposal, contract, and invoice. Once your contract is signed and your non-refundable retainer is paid, your place in the ferns is officially reserved.

About one month before your wedding, we’ll meet again to go over your timeline and final details, and I’ll take the notes then, too. My inbox is always open along the way, and your proposal walks you through the entire process in more detail so you always know what comes next and never feel lost in the ferns.

Do you always have a second shooter for weddings?

Not always. It depends on the story we’re telling together.

For elopements and smaller celebrations, it’s almost always just me.

For larger weddings with 150 guests or more, I recommend adding a second photographer, especially when your day is unfolding in more than one place at once. This allows us to preserve more moments, perspectives, and all the little in-between magic.

A second photographer can be added to your wedding collection for $550.

Sometimes one pair of fairy wings just isn’t enough.

What is your turnaround time? Do you offer sneak peeks?

Within 72 hours, you’ll receive a handful of sneak peeks while the rest of your gallery begins its final transformation.

Portrait and session galleries are delivered within four weeks, elopement galleries within eight weeks, and micro wedding and wedding galleries within twelve weeks. I’ll also send you a gallery delivery date along the way, so you’ll know exactly when your photographs will flutter home.

If you’ve added Polaroids, 35mm film, or a nostalgic little iPhone film, those will arrive alongside your completed gallery.

How do we view our photos?

On your gallery delivery date, your photographs will flutter home through a private online gallery, where you can relive, download, and share your story with the people you love.

Make a little moment out of it. Plan a date night, gather your favorite people for a viewing party, and relive it all together.

Do you offer keepsakes?

Absolutely!

When your gallery finds its way home, your story doesn’t have to stay on a screen. Wedding albums, professional prints, and keepsakes are available so your photographs can become part of your everyday life and be revisited for generations to come.

You’ll find a collection of keepsakes reserved exclusively for Fern Vera clients waiting inside your online gallery.

How do you help with posing?

My approach is a blend of gentle guidance, intentional posing, and stepping back to let your story unfold naturally.

I believe you deserve beautifully posed photographs, but also the little bits of magic you never knew I was capturing.

Your gallery should show you what your story looked like, but more importantly, bring you right back to how it felt.

Do we get photos in color and black and white?

Yes! I love black and white photographs.

Rather than delivering both a color and black and white version of every image, I choose the one that best preserves the feeling of the moment.

Sometimes the color or lighting may not be quite right, but the moment itself is still beautiful. In those cases, I may choose to deliver it in black and white instead.

What happens after my gallery is delivered?

Your gallery will remain nestled within the ferns for 12 months, giving you plenty of time to download your photographs and tuck them safely away. I’ll also keep a backup for up to one year, but I always recommend saving your photographs in a few different places for safekeeping.

After your gallery finds its way home, I’ll send a little thank-you gift and ask you to share your experience with a Google review.

And then, I simply hope our paths cross in the ferns again someday.

How far in advance should we book you for our wedding?

I recommend booking your wedding photography about 6 months to one year in advance.

I’m always happy to consider weddings on shorter notice depending on availability. I require a video consultation before booking, and if your wedding is coming up quickly, we can talk through payment options that make sense for the shorter timeline.

If you’re planning engagement photos, booking earlier also gives us plenty of time to dream up your session, photograph it, and deliver your gallery well before your wedding day.

Do you have insurance?

Yes! Fern Vera Photography is fully insured with business liability, photography equipment, and cyber coverage.

If your wedding venue requires proof of insurance or a certificate of insurance, just let me know and I’ll be happy to provide the necessary documentation.

Do you also offer video services?

I don’t offer traditional videography, but I do offer short, one-minute iPhone films as an add-on.

These little films are created specifically for Instagram and social media, making it easy to relive and share pieces of your day with family and friends. I’ll even send along the song I think pairs perfectly with your film when you share it on Instagram.

What if our wedding, micro wedding, or elopement is only a few hours?

My wedding, micro wedding, and elopement collections aren’t priced by the hour. Each collection is designed around the type of celebration you’re planning and the full experience that comes with having me there to preserve it.

So even if your elopement or micro wedding is only a few hours, the collection pricing remains the same. The same applies to a shorter wedding day.

What Add-Ons Do You Offer?
