How does covering travel expenses work?

Travel throughout the Twin Cities is included.

I haven’t quite figured out how to pay for travel in fairy dust yet, so adventures beyond the Twin Cities are quoted individually. You’ll always receive a custom travel quote before booking.

Do you offer discounts or payment plans?

While I don’t offer discounts, I do offer flexible payment options because I believe everyone deserves the chance to preserve life’s most sacred transformations.

For sessions, a 30% non-refundable retainer reserves your place in the ferns, with the remaining balance due 14 days before your session.

For weddings and elopements, a 30% non-refundable retainer reserves your place in the ferns, with the remaining balance due 30 days before your celebration.

Do you deliver RAW or unedited images?

I don’t deliver RAW or unedited images. Editing is where your story completes its final transformation.

Do we get all of the photos you take?

No. Every package includes a guaranteed minimum number of images.

If I capture additional photographs that help tell your story, I'll happily include them at no extra charge, though I can't guarantee a specific number.

My hope is that your gallery feels less like hundreds of individual photographs and more like opening the pages of a story you'll want to return to again and again.

What should I wear?

Once you've reserved your place in the ferns, we'll begin dreaming up your session together.

I'll create a custom mood board inspired by your vision and send over my Fern Vera Clothing Guide to help you choose outfits that complement the location we've chosen.

If you're deciding between a few outfits, send them my way. I'd love to help you choose the one that feels most at home in your story.

Can you Photoshop me?

My editing is meant to preserve the feeling of the moment, not change the people within it.

I'll happily remove temporary things like blemishes, bruises, scratches, or cuts, but I don't alter body shape, facial features, or permanent parts of who you are.

If there's something you're feeling self-conscious about, please tell me. Together, we'll create photographs using beautiful light, gentle guidance, thoughtful wardrobe choices, and natural movement that help you feel like your most confident self.

What happens if you can’t make it to our wedding or session?

If illness, injury, or another unforeseen circumstance ever prevented me from being at your wedding, I'd do everything in my power to make sure you're cared for.

If circumstances allow, I'd gladly recommend a trusted photographer whose work feels beautifully aligned with mine. Regardless, all payments you've made would be refunded in full.

For portrait sessions, we'll first try to find another day to wander together. If rescheduling isn't possible, I'll gladly refund your payment.

What if we need to cancel or reschedule?

If something unexpected comes up, I'll always do my best to find another day for us to wander together. A small rescheduling fee may apply, depending on the circumstances.

If you decide to cancel your session altogether, your non-refundable retainer will be retained.

My work is deeply inspired by soft, natural light, and golden hour is part of the magic you see throughout my portfolio. While rain, fog, and snow can all create beautiful photographs, they tell a different kind of story.

If the weather isn't the right fit for the vision we've dreamed up together, we'll wait for another day when the light feels just right.

Do you have a studio? Is studio rental included?

I don't have a studio of my own, but I love helping my clients find one that feels just right for their story.

During our consultation, we'll dream up your session together and decide where it wants to unfold. Sometimes that means wandering through the woods, chasing golden light in an open field, or cozying up at home. Other times, the perfect setting is a beautiful natural-light studio.

Studio rental fees aren't included in my session pricing and are paid directly to the studio. I do require a minimum two-hour rental so we have plenty of time to settle in, create, and let the magic unfold without ever feeling rushed.

Do you help in the planning process?

Absolutely!

If you're just beginning your journey, I'd recommend wandering over to my Experience page first. It will walk you through what it's like to step into the ferns together and what you can expect along the way.

If you're planning a wedding, one recommendation you'll hear me make again and again is to hire a wedding planner or day-of coordinator. It gives you the freedom to be fully present, knowing someone is quietly tending to the timeline and all the little details while you soak in the magic.

How many weddings do you take per year?

The ferns only have room for a handful of stories each year.

By keeping my calendar intentionally small, I can wander alongside each couple from the very first inquiry to the moment their gallery flutters home.

It leaves space to dream, to create, to rest between seasons, and to pour my whole heart into every transformation I have the honor of witnessing.

How does the wedding process work?

Once your inquiry flutters into my mailbox, we'll schedule a consultation call.

After our call, I'll gather everything into a custom proposal, contract, and invoice. Once your contract is signed and your non-refundable retainer is paid, your place in the ferns is officially reserved, and your journey begins.

From there, I'll send over your Welcome Guide and questionnaire, and together we'll begin bringing your vision to life. About a month before your wedding, we'll meet once more to craft your timeline, gather the final details, and make sure you can step into your day feeling present, prepared, and free to soak in every bit of the magic.

Do you always have a second shooter for weddings?

Not always. It really depends on the story we're telling together.

For elopements and smaller celebrations, it's almost always just me. If you'd love behind-the-scenes iPhone clips or extra content to remember the day by, my content creation experience is always available as an add-on.

For larger weddings, a second photographer becomes helpful when your story is unfolding in more than one place at once, allowing more moments, more perspectives, and more of the little in-between magic to be preserved.

Sometimes one pair of fairy wings isn't enough.

What is your turnaround time? Do you offer sneak peeks?

Once your story has been gathered, I return to the ferns where the final stage of its transformation begins.

Within 72 hours, you'll receive a handful of sneak peeks while the rest of your gallery continues its quiet metamorphosis. If you've added Polaroids, 35mm film, or a nostalgic little iPhone film, they'll flutter home alongside your completed gallery.

Portrait and session galleries find their way home within four weeks, elopement galleries within eight weeks, and wedding galleries within twelve weeks. Along the way, I'll send you your gallery delivery date, so you'll know exactly when to wander back into the ferns.

How do we view our photos?

When the time is right, your gallery will flutter home through a private online gallery where you can relive, download, and share your story with the people you love.

Do you offer keepsakes?

Absolutely!

When your gallery finds its way home, your story doesn't have to stay on a screen. Together, we can transform it into albums, prints, and keepsakes that become part of your everyday life, ready to be revisited for generations to come.

You'll find a handful of keepsakes and add-ons waiting along the path on my Investment page. Then, once you've stepped into the ferns, a few additional treasures reserved exclusively for Fern Vera clients will quietly reveal themselves inside your proposal and online gallery.

How do you help with posing?

My approach is a blend of gentle guidance, playful movement, and the quiet moments that unfold on their own.

Some moments arrive all on their own. Others come to life with a little direction, a playful prompt, or an invitation to slow down and be together.

Every now and then, we'll recreate a moment because it's too meaningful to let flutter away, or because this little fairy can only carry so many cameras at once.

So every once in a while, we borrow a moment and let it unfold twice.

Do we get photos in color and black and white?

Yes! I love black and white.

Rather than delivering both versions of every photograph, I choose the one that best preserves the feeling of the moment.

What happens after my gallery is delivered?

Your gallery will remain nestled within the ferns for three months, giving you plenty of time to download your photographs and tuck them safely away.

For a little extra peace of mind, I'll also keep a backup of your gallery for up to one year.

While I'll always do my very best to protect your memories, I can't promise they'll remain safely stored beyond that, so I encourage you to keep your photographs tucked away in a few different places, just in case.
